On March 7 the Center for Science and the Imagination and ASU’s School of Arts, Media and Engineering hosted filmmaker and photographer Ilana Rein. In this talk, Ilana presents a collection of images from her films and research, and discusses the creative process on her most recent film projects, which involves exploring the terra incognita that artists encounter as they embark on their own creative missions.
Ilana’s film We Are All Cylons, a visionary take on Battlestar Galactica and its profound cultural impact, won Best Documentary Short at the Arizona Underground Film Festival in 2011, and was profiled in Wired. Her feature Alignment Project, which she worked on while living in the remote Arizona desert, is currently in development, and she is also the writer and director of Ellipse, a science fiction film currently in post-production that was shot on location at The Royal Observatory in the UK.
