Imagination Network

The Center for Science and the Imagination celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, and in reflecting on the past decade, we’re particularly inspired by the network of amazing collaborators who have energized us, supported our work, and shared their time, talents, and ideas. We’ve often heard from folks in our network that they would like to have more opportunities to meet and learn about other people who cross paths with CSI.

In aid of that, we would like to invite you to a new series of Imagination Network Gatherings. Once a month, we’ll host a one-hour virtual session bringing together people from all over our vibrant little corner of the world. During each gathering, we’ll invite a couple of friends to give 5-minute updates on projects, ideas, and opportunities, break into small groups for a couple of loosely structured 15-minute conversations, and reserve some time for large-group discussion. For Spring 2024, we tried to vary up the times a bit, hopefully making it easier for people across a variety of time zones.

Wednesday, May 22nd, 10am-11am AZ / 1pm-2pm Eastern

The idea here is to provide a space for people to meet and hang out, to keep conversations going that aren’t tied to specific projects and events, and really just to chat and bat around ideas. Feel free to drop in for part or all of the hour, and to share this invitation with others who you think might be interested in joining us. We’ll host the gathering on Zoom: https://asu.zoom.us/j/82167984324. (If you’d like to join by phone, email us and we’ll send dial-in information.)

This is a bit of an experiment, so we welcome your feedback on how these gatherings work, the structure, how often they should occur—or if we should try an entirely different method for bringing people together!

If you sign up for the mailing list, we’ll share reminders and updates about upcoming gatherings via this new email list (it’s separate from the main CSI list, through which we share news, events, publications, etc.). Feel free to unsubscribe; we don’t want you to feel inundated! We’ll try to keep emails occasional and straightforward, mostly reminders about upcoming gatherings.
